Château Morreau — The Castle of Senses

These General Terms and Conditions apply to stays, room reservations, services, packages, activities, Clubhouse facilities, local and artisanal products, venue hire and events offered by Château Morreau.
By confirming a reservation, order or agreement, the customer declares that they have read and accepted these General Terms and Conditions.

Hereinafter referred to as “Château Morreau”.
STAYS AND RESERVATIONS
2. Reservation and Payment
All room reservations must be paid in full online at the time of booking.
A reservation becomes final once:
- the online payment has been successfully completed; and
- the reservation has been confirmed by Château Morreau.
The reservation applies exclusively to the room or residence booked, the stated period of stay, the number of guests specified and any additional services booked.
The person making the reservation declares that they are at least 18 years old and is responsible for the accuracy of the information provided.
3. Prices
All prices are stated in euros and include applicable VAT, unless expressly stated otherwise.
Any tourist tax, additional services, packages or other surcharges will be indicated during the booking process or in the booking confirmation.
The price confirmed at the time the reservation is finalised shall apply.
Obvious typographical, input or technical errors shall not be binding.
4. Cancellation of a Room Reservation
A room reservation may be cancelled free of charge up to 48 hours before the scheduled arrival.
In the event of a timely cancellation, the amount already paid will be refunded using the payment method used or otherwise agreed.
In the event of cancellation less than 48 hours before the scheduled arrival, or in the event of a no-show, the accommodation charges may be invoiced in accordance with the conditions of the reservation.
If different cancellation conditions apply to a particular package or rate, these will be clearly communicated before the reservation is made.
5. Check-in
Check-in is available between 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
Every guest staying at Château Morreau is required to register at reception upon arrival.
Check-in is completed at reception using the designated QR code.
Guests expecting to arrive after 8:00 pm must contact Château Morreau in advance. Late arrival is only possible by prior arrangement.
6. Check-out
Check-out must be completed no later than 11:00 am on the day of departure.
Late check-out is only possible with the prior approval of Château Morreau and may be subject to availability and additional charges.
CLUBHOUSE AND CONDUCT ON THE ESTATE
7. Château Morreau Clubhouse
Every registered overnight guest automatically becomes a temporary member of the Château Morreau Clubhouse upon check-in for the duration of their stay.
This temporary membership forms part of the guest experience and does not entail a separate membership fee unless expressly stated otherwise for a particular activity or service.
By confirming the reservation and completing check-in upon arrival, the guest declares that they have read and accepted the applicable Château Morreau Club Rules.
The Club Rules form an integral part of the conditions applicable during the stay.
Temporary Clubhouse membership begins at check-in and automatically ends at check-out.
Access to certain areas, activities or facilities may depend on opening hours, reservations, availability or additional conditions.
8. Peace, Respect and Discretion
Château Morreau is a place where peace, discretion and respect for other guests are of particular importance.
Guests are requested to keep noise to a minimum from 11:00 pm onwards, including in rooms, communal areas, on terraces and throughout the park.
Every guest is expected to respect:
- the privacy of other guests;
- the tranquillity of the estate;
- the historic character of the buildings;
- the nature and animals within the park;
- staff and other visitors.
Serious or repeated disruptive behaviour may result in appropriate measures being taken.
9. Parking
Château Morreau provides parking facilities for guests and visitors.
Vehicles are parked at the owner’s or user’s own risk.
Château Morreau shall not be liable for theft, damage or loss relating to vehicles or items left inside vehicles, except to the extent that Château Morreau is liable under applicable law.
Guests are advised not to leave valuables visible inside their vehicles.
10. Smoking and Fire Safety
All applicable statutory smoking restrictions must be respected at all times.
Due to the natural character of the estate and the risk of fire, smoking is also prohibited in the wooded areas of the park.
Any additional fire safety instructions or designated non-smoking areas must be respected.
11. Dogs and Other Pets
A maximum of one dog weighing no more than 15 kg is permitted per room or residence.
The owner remains responsible for their dog and for any demonstrable damage caused by the animal.
The dog must not disturb the peace, safety or comfort of other guests or animals.
Cats are not permitted, in particular to avoid potential conflicts between cats and dogs on the estate.
Other pets are only permitted with the prior approval of Château Morreau.
Applicable legal provisions relating to recognised assistance dogs remain fully applicable.
12. Respect for the Estate
Château Morreau is a historic private estate comprising ancient trees, bodies of water, natural areas, historic buildings, furniture, works of art and other valuable features.
Guests and visitors are requested to treat the estate with care and respect.
Certain areas of the estate may temporarily be inaccessible due to:
- nature management;
- maintenance;
- weather conditions;
- events;
- privacy considerations;
- safety requirements.
Instructions issued by Château Morreau must be respected.
13. Rooms and Residences
The rooms and residences are furnished with carefully selected furniture, decorative elements, works of art and materials.
Guests are required to treat these items with care.
Any demonstrable damage resulting from intentional or manifestly negligent conduct may, within the limits of applicable law, be charged to the responsible guest.
If a room or residence cannot temporarily be rented as a result of such damage, in addition to the repair costs, the responsible guest may also be charged for demonstrable loss of income during the period strictly necessary to carry out the repairs, insofar as such loss results directly from the damage caused and may legally be recovered.
Items belonging to the rooms, communal areas or estate may not be removed.
14. Visitors of Overnight Guests
Unregistered visitors are only permitted with the prior approval of Château Morreau.
Within the limits of applicable law, the registered guest remains responsible for the conduct of their visitors.
WELLNESS, GASTRONOMY AND ACTIVITIES
15. Spa and Wellness
Guests must comply with all usage and safety instructions displayed or communicated in relation to spa and wellness facilities.
Each guest remains responsible for determining whether the use of particular wellness facilities is appropriate for their personal circumstances.
16. Gastronomy, Allergies and Dietary Requirements
Allergies, intolerances and special dietary requirements must be clearly communicated in advance.
Château Morreau will take these into account insofar as reasonably possible.
However, the complete exclusion of any risk of cross-contamination cannot be guaranteed.
Serious allergies must always be expressly reported before ordering or consuming food or beverages.
17. Activities and Nature Experiences
Activities may depend on the season, weather conditions, availability, nature management and safety considerations.
Where circumstances make it necessary, Château Morreau may modify, relocate or cancel an activity.
PHOTOGRAPHY AND VISUAL CONTENT
18. Photography, Filming and Privacy
Photographs and videos for personal use are permitted provided that the privacy of other guests, visitors and staff is respected.
Professional photo shoots, commercial photography, filming and the use of drones require the prior approval of Château Morreau.
19. Website and Atmospheric Imagery
Photographs, videos and descriptions on the website are intended to provide as accurate an impression of Château Morreau as possible.
Certain details may vary due to seasonal changes, restoration work, interior changes, maintenance and natural developments.
Artistic and atmospheric imagery may be used to support the story and experience of Château Morreau and does not constitute a guarantee that every depicted detail will be present during a stay.
20. Marianne
Marianne forms part of the identity, imaginative world and experience of Château Morreau.
Stories, images and references relating to Marianne are artistic and experiential interpretations of the estate.
Marianne is not presented as a historically documented person, and stories associated with her should not be regarded as established historical facts.
Each guest is free to experience and interpret Marianne in their own way.
LOCAL AND ARTISANAL PRODUCTS
21. Sales on the Estate
Château Morreau may offer a selection of local, regional and artisanal products on the estate, including:
- chocolates;
- honey;
- beverages;
- delicacies;
- regional products;
- gift items;
- house products.
These products may be offered directly by Château Morreau or supplied by selected local and artisanal producers.
22. Product Information
Prices are displayed on the product or at the point of sale.
For food and beverages, the information regarding ingredients, allergens, storage and shelf life stated on the product or provided by the producer shall apply.
Where a product originates from an external producer, the product information provided by that producer shall remain applicable.
Products whose seal has been broken or which cannot be resold for hygiene or food-safety reasons will not be accepted for return, except where the product is defective or applicable law provides otherwise.
Where products are sold online, the applicable legal provisions governing distance contracts shall also apply.
VENUE HIRE AND EVENTS
23. Reservation of Venues and Events
Château Morreau may make rooms and areas of the estate available for purposes including:
- private events;
- weddings and celebrations;
- dinners and receptions;
- meetings;
- seminars;
- workshops;
- business gatherings;
- other activities agreed in advance.
Every event reservation is confirmed by means of a quotation, booking confirmation or separate agreement.
24. Priority of the Event Agreement
Specific arrangements agreed in writing for an event form an integral part of the agreement.
These may include:
- date and times;
- reserved areas;
- number of guests;
- room layout;
- catering;
- beverages;
- staff;
- technical facilities;
- setup and dismantling;
- price;
- deposit and payment;
- cancellation;
- security deposit;
- special requirements.
Where a specific event agreement or quotation differs from these General Terms and Conditions, the provisions specifically agreed in writing for that event shall take precedence.
25. Capacity and Use of Venues
The agreed maximum number of attendees may not be exceeded.
The organiser may only use the rooms and areas of the estate reserved for the event.
Safety requirements, fire regulations, access restrictions and instructions issued by Château Morreau must be respected at all times.
Historic or valuable objects may not be moved and the layout may not be altered without prior approval.
26. Venue Hire with Catering
Where catering is provided by Château Morreau, arrangements will be made in advance concerning matters including:
- menu;
- beverages;
- number of guests;
- timings;
- service;
- additional services.
Allergies, intolerances and special dietary requirements must be communicated sufficiently in advance.
27. Venue Hire without Catering
Venue hire may, where agreed, also take place without catering being provided by Château Morreau.
Where an external caterer is permitted, the selected caterer must be approved in advance by Château Morreau.
External caterers must comply with the hygiene, safety and house rules applicable at Château Morreau.
The use of kitchens, refrigeration facilities, tableware, furniture or other facilities by external parties is only permitted where this has been agreed in writing in advance.
28. Food and Beverages Brought onto the Estate
Bringing, serving or providing food and beverages for an event is only permitted where this has been agreed in advance.
Any corkage, service, cleaning or other charges will be communicated in advance.
29. External Suppliers
Where the organiser engages their own photographers, musicians, DJs, decorators, caterers, technicians or other suppliers, those parties must comply with the agreements and house rules of Château Morreau.
Setup, deliveries and dismantling may only take place at the times agreed in advance and via the designated access points.
30. Music and Noise
Music and entertainment are permitted within the framework agreed in advance and subject to applicable regulations and respect for the estate, the surrounding area and other guests.
Château Morreau may impose reasonable restrictions regarding:
- sound levels;
- positioning of equipment;
- use of outdoor areas;
- starting and finishing times.
31. Decorations and Historic Environment
Due to the historic character of Château Morreau, decorations must be installed with particular care.
Attaching materials to historic walls, ceilings, doors, windows or other features is only permitted with prior approval.
Confetti, fireworks, open flames, smoke machines, candles or other materials and effects that may cause damage, pollution or a fire hazard are only permitted with prior approval and where their use is legally and technically permitted.
32. Damage and Exceptional Cleaning
Within the limits of applicable law, the organiser is responsible for demonstrable damage caused by the organiser, their guests or suppliers engaged by them.
Where exceptional cleaning, waste removal, repairs or replacement are required as a direct consequence of the event, the demonstrable additional costs may be charged to the organiser.
33. Cancellation of Events
For venue hire, events and associated services, a cancellation period of three months before the agreed event date applies, unless different conditions are expressly stated in the quotation, booking confirmation or event agreement.
Any cancellation must be communicated to Château Morreau in writing.
In the event of cancellation, costs already incurred and a reasonable administrative fee may be charged.
Where cancellation takes place less than three months before the agreed date, the cancellation conditions and any applicable charges specified in the relevant quotation, booking confirmation or event agreement shall apply.
Where different payment or cancellation conditions have been agreed in writing for a specific event, those specific conditions shall take precedence.
These provisions are entirely separate from the 48-hour cancellation rule applicable to room reservations.
34. Starting and Finishing Times
The organiser must respect the starting and finishing times agreed in advance.
Setup, the event itself and dismantling must take place within the agreed time periods.
Any extension requires the approval of Château Morreau and may result in additional charges.
35. Events Combined with Accommodation
Where an event is combined with overnight accommodation, the applicable accommodation conditions remain in force for individual room reservations.
Any group reservations, room allocations or different conditions will be agreed separately.
GENERAL PROVISIONS
36. Liability
Château Morreau shall be liable in accordance with applicable Belgian law.
Nothing in these General Terms and Conditions is intended to exclude statutory consumer rights or limit liability where such exclusion or limitation is not permitted by law.
37. Force Majeure
Where Château Morreau is unable to provide a reserved service due to circumstances reasonably beyond its control, the affected guest, customer or organiser will be informed as soon as possible.
Where reasonably possible, an appropriate alternative will be offered.
Any further consequences will be handled in accordance with the relevant agreement and applicable legal provisions.
38. Personal Data
Personal data is processed in accordance with applicable data protection legislation and Château Morreau’s separate Privacy Policy.
39. Complaints
If a problem arises during a stay, purchase or event, we ask that it be reported as soon as possible so that Château Morreau has the opportunity to seek an appropriate solution.

40. Applicable Law
The agreement is governed by Belgian law, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer rights applicable under the relevant legislation.
Any dispute shall be submitted to the competent courts in accordance with the applicable legal rules.
41. Severability
If any provision of these General Terms and Conditions is found to be wholly or partially invalid or unenforceable, this shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions.
